The second CD release for the Academy, 'Resurrection' is available from the GSM shop and online at Cambridge Recordings. It is a stunning recording of works from British composers Finzi, Elgar, Berkeley, Howells and (our very own) Pounds with a recurrent theme of 'life after death' with performances from the entire orchestra and all the choirs. |
14/12/2011 The orchestra and choirs gave an exciting concert on Sunday 11th December at Great St Mary's to a large and appreciative audience. The programme included an electrifying performance of Adam Pounds Symphony no 1. "This symphony takes you on a journey. There is a logical dvelopment of the thematic material from start to end. The playing was full of verve and excitement" The concert also featured soloists from the orchestra's brass section. David Taine gave a superbly crafted performance of the concerto for trombone by Wagenseil and Ian Facer and Malcolm Highfield performed Vivaldi's concerto for two trumpets in C with some brilliant and exciting playing.
